In honor of March Madness

I’m definitely showing my age but watching Pete Maravich play for the Hawks with his floppy socks, mop top and behind the back passes is one of my earliest sports memories. Of course he was also a great college basketball player for LSU. Although he never played in the NCAA tournament, the field was considerably smaller back then. Pete loved the limelight so given the chance, I’m sure he would have done something special.

This interview with Mark Kriegel, the author of Pistol: The Life of Pete Maravich is thoroughly enjoyable for basketball fans. In many ways Pistol Pete transcended the game so, even if you aren’t a basketball fan its worth checking out. You can also read excerpts of the book from the above link.

Although this book is not owned by the Clayton County Library System, it can be ordered through PINES. This is definitely going on my reading list.
